Featured Artist – Mary Jane Doubleday

We are going to start blogging every month or so about a featured artist that we will be displaying in our front display case! This month, our featured artist is Mary Jane Doubleday. She is a local jewelry designer, right here in Maine. She studied metalsmithing and design at Massachusetts College of Art. Her designs are influenced by a childhood interest in origami. She made jewelry by bending, hammering, and folding metal shapes into three-dimensional forms. Her collection is inspired by leaves, flowers and seed pods that she found while exploring her new rural neighborhood when she moved to Maine from Boston in 1994. It features elegant, sculptural, graceful designs, inspired by nature and carefully hand crafted in silver and gold. Come check out her designs in the first center case when you walk into our store.
